pending

A list whose source the host does not know yet — the issue it highlights on its own and is still resolving, typically.

The block draws its placeholders as it does while loading, asks nothing of the catalogue and offers no retry. Hand it a real source once known and it loads then; the swap is ordinary Compose state. In a page, a pending block keeps the page out of its failed and empty states, like a block still loading.
